Image showing invisible tray icon on startup.
I have Pidgin set to auto-start with my desktop environment. However, under
Cinnamon, after logging in, there is a blank space where the Pidgin system tray
icon should be. Clicking on the blank space does nothing, so I have to execute
Pidgin from the menu or command line the display the main interface. I open
"Preferences" where "Show system tray icon" is already set to "Always", change
it to something else then back to "Always" to get the icon to display. I have
also been using the LXDE desktop and have not had this issue. Using Pidgin in
combination with Cinnamon under Debian Linux does not produce the error. So, I
think the problem is related to the FreeBSD-Cinnamon-Pidgin combination.
I am using Pidgin (libpurple) version 2.10.11. This is the contents of my
~/.config/autostart/pidgin.desktop file:
[Desktop Entry]
Name=Pidgin
Exec=pidgin --config="/mnt/shared/Config/Pidgin"
Icon=pidgin
Type=Application
Terminal=false
StartupNotify=true
I have also filed a bug report upstream:
https://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/16767
The attached images show the blank space where the Pidgin icon should be on my
desktop after startup and the settings menu where Pidgin is configured to
always show the tray icon.
