No, this variable is initially set in file sams2.conf 
ie: "SQUIDPATH =/usr/sbin"
For freebsd should be changed to: "SQUIDPATH =/usr/local/sbin"
Once again, I draw your attention to - it's not a bug, but my flaw in the
initial configuration sams2.
I can later put here a working example file sams2.conf, adapted for freebsd.
