well, if it works in pkg-plist, you can leave it there.  I was mainly concerned
if there was code at all to deal with it and it sounds like there is.

Don't bother; it would in effect say, "examples are where examples normally
are" or "the copy of examples are no longer in a non-standard place".  No user
is going to be hurt by one less copy of examples.
