>Description:
FreeBSD is running in a VM on a Win7 host.
Gnome2 appears to be unavailable to install via 'pkg install'. It also failed to compile using ports in /usr/ports/x11/gnome2 with 'make install clean', returning an "Error code 1". You can see screenshots int the FreeBSD Forum thread here:
forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=43274
Ports tree is up-to-date. 'pkg_add -r gnome2' successfully installed the package. However, this is not ideal, as since the beginning of this install 'pkgng' was implemented.
If requested, I'll 'script' a log of the 'make' fail.
P.S.> There is also a typo in the "-g" flag instruction of 'pkg help search': "seached" should be "searched"
>How-To-Repeat:
Type: pkg install gnome && pkg install gnome2
Type: cd /usr/ports/x11/gnome2 && make install clean
>Fix:
For an undesirable workaround, type: pkg_add -r gnome2
