>Description:
I personally don't think that bug is in smartmontools, but smartmontools is a good place to start and describe a bug better.

This is not generally linked with update of smartmontools to 6.1 - this doesn't work with 6.0 too as with RELENG_9_0.

When trying to start smartd I get this:

# service smartd onestart
Starting smartd.

After this the disk is lost and machine should be rebooted.
