it seems you're right, as there are more PRs seemingly referencing the
same problem:
ports/137729 (www/mod_auth_kerb2 broken, too)
kern/147454 (libgssapi broken in head/8)
Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with Heimdal at all, and I don't even know
who to notify about this so this gets some attention...
