>Description:

GEOS (Geometry Engine - Open Source) is a C++ port of the
Java Topology Suite (JTS). As such, it aims to contain the complete
functionality of JTS in C++. This includes all the OpenGIS
"Simple Features for SQL" spatial predicate functions and spatial
operators, as well as specific JTS topology functions such as IsValid().

More precisely, GEOS is a library containing functions which implement
OpenGIS specifications concerning operations on geometric objects. Despite
its categorization in the graphics
subdirectory, it is more suitable in a "gis" category for
Geographical Information Systems software. I would like to suggest the
ports team to create such category because of the so many free software
available on the internet. Please, look at www.freegis.org. I am working
on porting several of them to make FreeBSD ready-for-GIS. Feel free to
contact me for more information.
