Thanks for your quick response. I suspected that it might be FreeBSD
version issue.
As you say it would be good to have a version check.

This is caused by the following commit:

=352986
FreeBSD 8.2 lacks support for :tl. You will need to upgrade to a
supported release (8.4) to eliminate the error. Alternatively, as a
workaround, you would reverse the commit in your local ports tree.
You
might run into other issues though.

We should either add workarounds for older systems or a warning
that will be printed if a user is running a FreeBSD release that
lacks
required functionality for the ports tree to function.
The above commit basically means a user must be running FreeBSD 8.4,
9.1
(or higher).
