Embarrassment of Riches

Well, I built openoffice without gnome_vfs (and I think gnomevfs itself brings
in additional dependencies) and without cups (although I have a cups version
as well) - but since I'm a KDE user, I built it with KDE integration - so
that might be a no-no if you use something more minimal (I presume it is not
gnome since you don't need gnome VFS). It is available here:

I think the good folks at openoffice at freebsd try to accommodate a variety of
needs, but they cannot satisfy everyone's requests: if they built a kde
version, then they'll have to build all language versions as well, which will
double their efforts. And then, there will be people who need an oo.o version
with all WITHOUT_BLAH knobs switched on - which triples the work. Well, if
you want them to provide oo.o WITHOUT_WHATEVERYOUWANT that's still possible:
give them a new build cluster (a few dual core xeons would surely suffice) -
and I'm sure they will happily provide additional precompiled binaries of
oo.o :)
