Well, that's kind of interesting.  While it's true I sent this before 
you sent
the patch for fixing up the .desktop files, it seems you know at least 
as much
if not more than me about integrating applications into KDE.  But perhaps
I am wrong.

I don't know anything about svg or svgz either.  I am making the leap that
they mean scalable vector graphics and scalable vector graphics compressed,
respectively.  I have no idea how I made the decision to try them out.  What
I did was added an application to the KDE panel (kicker).  Then I right 
clicked
on the icon that was present, scrolled to the bottom and entered in the 
path of
the icon.

Actually, I've just found a message I had posted to openoffice at .  I 
guess you
missed it  :)

Anyhow, I hope this helps and my apologies if my response was a little too
