I'm having the same

The application cannot be started.
The configuration service is not available.
Start the setup application to repair the installation from the CD or the 
folder containing the installation packages.
"
problem as described in the following 2 posts.  Has there been any headway on 
this?  I've tried both network and local install with the same results.

Running Xorg from the same date.
