this is not my problem...I really hate to use gcc from ports since
it is a tedious job...but gcc comes with 5.2.1-RELEASE is really broken
for building OOo 1.1.1.

Strange. I found java without doing anything.
% java -version
java version "1.4.2-p6"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2-p6-maho_11_mar_2004_16_35)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2-p6-maho_11_mar_2004_16_35, mixed mode)
Anyway, I put CONFIGURE_ARGS+="where your java live"
please try with it.
