I downloaded http://projects.imp.ch/openoffice/stable/openoffice-1.1Beta.tgz
to install on a 4.8-Release system. The first thing that happened was
"libXaw.so.7" not found. I copied one over from a friend's system, but
then it complained about an unresolved external, so I broke down and
did a "make install" in the ports/x11/XFree86-4-libraries. Now it complains
<pyrex.batie.org> [526] $ openoffice_1.1
crash_report: not found
Abort trap
but it actually does start up and appears to run, but then when you go
to load a file, you get:
Error loading document
file:///home/alan/work/nw/misc/ootest-filled.sxw: The file could
not be created.
So then if I try to create a new one and save it, I get:
Error saving the document Untitled1: Write Error. The file
could not be written.
These were done with 1.0.3...

To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we
are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic
and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.
-Theodore Roosevelt, 26th US President (1858-1919)
