I mess with file /etc/ttys

I've never encountered this personally, but can you boot into single 
user? If you can, then do that and edit the /etc/ttys file to fix it.

This is the default for ttyv0 in /etc/ttys:

ttyv0   "/usr/libexec/getty Pc"         cons25  on  secure
