how does one upgrade from 4.8 to 4.9

And 4.X to 5.X is recommended *against* by some
users/community members.  A dump of your data
and a fresh install is better, they say.

Part of the reason is so that you have opportunity
to switch to ufs2 filesystems; the rest, I'm not sure
about.
