Ok, here you might want to edit the -newbies *about* page (if you can).
It states:

"Support questions should be sent to freebsd-questions at freebsd.org.
Technical questions should be sent to freebsd-hackers at freebsd.org.
(NOT to the newbies list please)"

You're right, the majority of newbie questions would definitely not be
welcome there :). I think I've seen a few device driver questions here
that might be appropriate there. Even in that case, it would be safer
to go through -questions first, to make sure it isn't a faq.

PS. Thanks for giving me (us) a feeling of a little more control over
whether or not I (we) should respond to these situations. Personally,
I just didn't want to step on any toes.
