Alphasmart on FreeBSD? Good book?

Thanks for all the help everyone. So far so good.

Okay, so I did my install and I'm coming across a few issues. I got GDM
running and it looks really nice. It runs really fast. I always forget
about then when I install FreeBSD, how fast it is. At least, it seems
faster compared to SuSE.

Now I back to this word processor I use. Since it essentially
connects to your computer like a USB keyboard, it works really easily,
for the most part. Under Linux I plugged it in, it was recognized and I
could use it. The main thing you do with it is hit a "send" button that
basically dumps everything in the current file you're working on into
whatever editor you have open. Works great. Under FreeBSD I had to use
kbdcontrol to switch control to the keyboard, then back to the PS/2
keyboard. This isn't a deal-killer by any stretch, but isn't there a way
to use both at once and not have to switch from one to the other? Or
maybe even some way to get a hotplug script of some kind to
fire when I plug it in, from which I can make the call to switch them?
