Why host transmit rate on 1Gb ethernet is only ~750Mbps ?

Now I did this, connected hosts directly with cat5 cable.
Sending speed is still 753 Mbits/sec. Receiving speed reported even 
dropped from 729 to 695 Mbps for some reason.

This rules out the router.
