ntop binary for 5.x in existence ? (the real ntop,
not the kitchen sink one...)

I'm not sure where you're looking, but http://www.ntop.org definitely
describes a network monitoring application.
It's stil in the ports -- you can install it like this: cd
/usr/ports/net/ntop && make install
