Hi!
In my box it helped, to set the permissions of the scanner device
more liberal:
E. g.: As root:
# chmod 666 /dev/uscanner0
U can do that automatically via the devd.conf(5) and
devfs.conf(5).
% cat /etc/devfs.conf
perm uscanner0 0664
% cat /etc/devd.conf
options {
pid-file "/var/run/devd.pid";
};
attach 10 {
device-name "uscanner0";
action "/etc/rc.d/devfs start";
};
I hope, I understood the question correctly...
Bye
Arne
