Sound problems with RealPlayer and Mplayer

I installed FreeBSD 5.4 on my home PC and I'd like to use
linuxrealplayer and mplayer to attend some video-lessons (mplayer for
.camv files, etc.)
I installed them and they work, except there is no sound, while sound is
active for the KDE desktop environment and other applications. Have you
any idea to suggest me?
