Best experience with Thinkpad suspend/resume

acpiconf -s3 will suspend from the command line.

You can configure the suspend-from-lid-close in ACPI, doesn't have
into involve Mate.

hw.acpi.lid_switch_state=S3


.. and yes, when you run startx, it should be loading drm2 and
i915kms. If it isn't, then you likely won't see the screen come back
after resume.

Oh, and load acpi_video too before you run startx.
