Figured I'd follow up here:  I decided against these particular
systems. They both have an unfortunate choice of graphics cards, and
I've been told that modern optimus cards can not have this feature
disabled.

Shopping for laptops for a FreeBSD system is very painful. I wish we
could be past this point of worrying about "is this hardware
supported."

That said, I'll likely send a more general email to this list with
some "requirements" and a request for suggestions some time soon.
