Hi there,
i've got that "crappy" model from Acer mentioned above. "Crappy" because
the Acer 5100 series is famous for broken motherboards, ideally when
you are just 2 month out of the guarantee time.
Anyway, the USB Ports are broken under any OS, EHCI produces just
errors. This machine is running with 7.1-R amd64 smoothy, also acpi for
the battery is working. Below is a dmesg from a kernel built
with removed ehci/ohci/uhci devices.
What's really annoying is that the synaptics trackpad is hanging after
approx. 3 seconds of moving the mouse pointer (console also in xorg),
moused says in foreground/debug mode nothing. This also occurs under
OpenBSD 4.4 amd64 and in ubuntu versions prior to 8.10.
Anyone seen that behaviour before? Or just broken?
The other question: sysctl says S3/S4/S5 states are supported. But when i
invoke them, it says that it's not supported??? Under ubuntu 8.10
hibernate2disk is supported and works out of the box (sorry for mentioning it
;-)
ThX
