Unfortunately the man page is now somewhat out of date and there are 
Atheros parts in the channels that are not supported by the hal in cvs.  
However many additional parts are supported by the test build found at:

http://www.freebsd.org/~sam

But there are still other parts that not supported by this hal and I 
have no idea if and/or when they ever will be.  Sorry, but Atheros 
stopped caring about open source users after certain folks left the company.
