... and answering your next question: I am using it from scripts and
Makefiles, so I have not looked for GUI frontends. Asking around on
bluetooth@ might give you a better yield.

No. There was a discussion on bluetooth@ and, AFAICR, Maksim Yevmenkin
said that he has SCO profile implementation, but is not sure how to
marry it to the sound subsystem. You would be better off searching
archives, though.
