Hello,
Yesterday I've bought for my wife a separate notebook of the type
in the subject line; 6.0-REL installs nicely in it and KDE is already
up, network as well and WLan seems to be supported (not tested yet);
the only problems are (of course) the graphic chip and the sound,
the last one is not so important;
'pciconf -lv' says about the chips:

the important stuff is the resolution of the Xorg server; the notebook
should support (in Windows) a resolution of 1280x800 but the
# Xorg -configure
does not detect the 'MOBILITY RADEON X700' 0x5653 chip and falls back
to 'vesa' with 1024x768 73Hz:
...
Section "Device"
### Available Driver options are:-
### Values: <i>: integer, <f>: float, <bool>: "True"/"False",
### <string>: "String", <freq>: "<f> Hz/kHz/MHz"
### [arg]: arg optional
#Option "ShadowFB" # [<bool>]
#Option "DefaultRefresh" # [<bool>]
Identifier "Card0"
Driver "vesa"
VendorName "ATI Technologies Inc"
BoardName "Unknown Board"
BusID "PCI:3:0:0"
EndSection
...
I've already fetched the xorg-server from the ports collection to
have a look into the sources; there seems to be no PCI-ID for 0x5653
what can I do?
Thx in advance
matthias
