HP nx6110 "freezes" while booting

If its before any messages mumbling about BTX then thats boot2. Never
heard of any lockups there... sounds like your disk controller or
something needs the nudge that pressing a key triggers. I'd check for a
BIOS update and reinstall boot2 with "disklabel -B ad0".
Do you have boot0 installed (i.e.k, does it ask for an F key to pick a
partition)? If you do you might try setting the packet option with
boot0cfg.
