This didn't do anything, and I think it has been removed from the code 
a while ago.

This patch isn't really up to date, but I figured out where to put all 
the pieces and lo and behold, it worked! Congratulations!
To get my Xircom card working I also needed the the exca.c patch you 
mentioned. Without it, the system completely locked up when I 
inserted the card and crashed when I removed it again.
