for what it's worth, i get exactly the same errors with my cd-rw on my
thinkpad T30, on a week-old current.
i was strongly suspecting a faulty drive and i hope i can confirm this
today when i get another drive to test, but since you say it works for
you under XP, the problem may be elsewhere.
i remember having the exact same problems with 5.2.1.
in the next days, i'll try again with Gnu/Linux and if i can get cdrecord
to work on XP, with that one too.
