Actually I only seem to be having disk related problems with APM suspend (some 
times, seemingly if there is disc access during the resume cycle, the laptop 
will hang). Unless the ATA problem you are referring to manifests itself as 
imposing a lot of latency/load on the system, which is the primary reason why 
I am not using ACPI - the machine is not usable after a resume even if 
everything (except USB) technically seems to work.

FWIW,  the Atheros driver works fine for me on the T40p.
