Macintosh/BSD Systems Engineer - 00000686
Description
The Architecture & Technology Services group is looking for a passionate
engineer with significant Macintosh and OS X experience to join the
Infrastructure Services team. Infrastructure Services develops and supports
standards and best practices for hardware, operating systems, software
tools, and other third-party applications. ATS enables VeriSign's
development, operations, and business groups to be successful by providing
the building blocks needed to build world-class services that form the core
of the Internet. This candidate will take a lead role in developing and
promoting Mac standards for VeriSign with the opportunity to expand into
FreeBSD standards for production use.
Responsibilities will include:
- Specification and testing of Macintosh hardware
- Definining configuration standards for OS X
- Development of tools and scripts to support the management of Macintosh
systems
- Writing detailed documentation on all standards and best practices
- Educating users on how to best use Macs
- Providing high level support to Corporate IT for Mac desktops

Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- 8+ years of professional experience in systems engineering, architecture
and/or systems administration
- 4+ years of professional experience with Macintosh and OS X
- Experience with scripting, such as shell, Perl, and AppleScript
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation
skills
- Planning and organizational skills
- Ability to come up with innovative solutions to problems
The ideal candidate also has:
- Experience developing automated build and test processes
- Experience centrally managing and updating systems
- Experience configuring, installing, and running FreeBSD systems
- Certifications in Mac, BSD, Linux or Solaris
