FreeBSD is driven by volunteers.  If you have time you can spare,

Some Summer of Code & other projects that didn't get funding would still
benefit from unpaid help.  FreeBSD code projects & server admin would
surely love to have someone donating two or more hours a day free, to
benefit FreeBSD globally.
