New to Java on FreeBSD.

Hi,

I use FreeBSD 8-STABLE with openjdk6 for java development and I
haven't experienced issues to perform my work: maven runs smoothly
(personally I use tomcat and jetty plugins instead of the available
ports), I also tried grails without problems, even eclipse works ok
(fortunately I don't need to install eclipse plugins as root as I did
a year ago).

I also have a debian workstation, almost a replica of my freebsd
system (openjdk, maven, grails) and both of them behave the same way.

For pure server side development I think is as good platform as any
other linux, for desktop applications I cannot provide more details, I
can run netbeans 7 but I can't use intellij.

Best.
