Inetaddress.getLocalHost()

Dear all,
        When I try to use Inetaddress.getLocalHost() in freeBSD 5.4 with ntive jdk1.4 i get the unknownhost exception. It works only when i set my hostname to 'localhost'. the code doesn't work with any other hostname.
