This lost memory problem is a long time known bug. 2 - 3 years at least.
Guess no one has addressed it yet. There are many problems with having a 
firewall running on host and in the vimage jail at same time.

Since you say Craig Rodrigues has committed some patches, maybe you 
should contact him directly and post you finding here for others to read.
