GPT entries contain space for a 36-character UTF-16 name or label. This is currently not used (though 'gpt migrate' puts some defaults strings in there). The gpt(8) tool should allow the user to set or clear these labels and when set, gpt(8) should display them. Having a dozen UFS partitions quickly becomes troublesome, because it's easy to forget which partition is used for what.
