i386/80989: [install] Cannot install 5.4-RELEASE both in my system and in VMware Workstation 5

For the record; I am actively using VMware with various FreeBSD releases,
starting from 5.4, 5.5, 6.2, 6.3, 7.0 and -CURRENT, without any problems.

I can test whether I have the same issues you are seeing as well.
