>Description:
I have problems with my computer.
I configure my own kernel with options VESA and SC_PIXEL_MODE and I can change the resolution of my screen when I place only one module or RAM on the motherboard because when I put the second and try to change resolution using "vidcontrol MODE_XXX" my computer hangs and sometimes when it happens the internal speaker make a continuous noise.
The problem disappear when I tipe vidcontrol in the machine when it have only one RAM module.
The problem is not the memory because I have enought modules to change it and test with the same result, the motherboard (P4C800 E-Deluxe) I know that it can´t be because that computer was working with Windows using features provided by Dual-Channel DDR and it works...
I will change the motherboard to test it but it´s impossible to think that it is the problem.
Sorry, my english is horrible... I hope that can understand my explanation
>How-To-Repeat:
In my situation... to repeat the problem I only must to configure kernel, compile it and run the machine with 2 modules or RAM... when I use only 1 module I have not problems
>Fix:
The solution is to only use 1 module of RAM... because when you put 2 modules linked in the pair to use Dual-Channel or not linked (using Single-Channel because the 2 modules are in different place) the computer hangs
