can't get this -- can't get FreeBSD running
>Description:
Athlon 1GHz system : ASUS A7V133 motherboard with adaptec 39160 scsi card - 3 scsi disks attached. HP 9500 CD-Writer on IDE channel 0. Soundblaster 128 PCI, 1GB RAM. This system runs Mandrake Linux 9.2 flawlessly. Knoppix 3.4 and 3.6 also boot just fine, but FreeBSD 5.2.1 install hangs with error: WARNING - MODE_SENSE_BIG interrupt was seen but
taskqueue stalled. The CD-writer replaced a CD-ROM drive awhile ago -- prior to that, the system had FreeBSD 4.2-RELEASE installed. Attempt to boot the 4.2 installation fail with: ata0-slave: identify retries exceeded \n (null): MODE_SENSE_BIG command timeout - resetting\n ata0: resetting devices .. \n (hang at this point). I believe the problem is
the ata driver's handling of the cd-burner.
>How-To-Repeat:
Stick in the 5.2.1 install CD and boot.
