Try Option "NvAGP" "2" in your /etc/X11/xorg.cfg "Device" section.
If that doesn't help, follow the instructions in Section 05 of
/usr/X11/share/doc/NVIDIA_GLX-1.0/README
Installing XF86 should not resolve this issue.
