Maybe, question is how can I know and how to fix the problem not yet
known. I am backing up my work now and planning fresh install, just in
case - I had originally disabled UEFI boot in BIOS, which could be the
cause, and simply enabling it did not help.

Well, it looks like Bay Trail CPUs are not supported currently, at
least according our wiki page. I am asking about this on freebsd-x11
mailing list just now, where this could be addressed better.
