This may be obvious, but 8.1 is long unsupported. 8.4 just expired a few
months ago as well. The knowledge of 8.1 is going to be pretty low at
this point. You should try using a newer release to see if you still
have the problem. 8.1 -> 8.4 is a pretty safe upgrade if you can manage
it and have reasons to not go to 9 or 10.
