I agree, I think all of contrib should be in ports only, but I prefer a
base with Lua.

I didn't know NetBSD put it in their kernel.  I started experimenting with
an embedded interpreter as a replacement for mi_startup() to easily pass
control back to it from subsystems, but I never got too far.
