FreeBSD Port: x11/cinnamon

Hello,

Excuse me for daring to write to you.  I want to try FreeBSD in a VM
with Ciannmon.  I have gathered that the two simply do not go
together. I install the DE but it will not start.

I see you are the maintainer of Cinamon for FreeBSD.  Is there a way to
use the desktop environment?  

You can give me links as try as I might, I could not find anything of
use.
