Aisleriot (gnome-games) crashes after 2.16 update

Since the 2.16 update, aisleriot games crash when the first card is
selected.
I tried compiling for debug (-O0 -g), but the message received when it
crashes still lacks any backtrace information.
Aside from building with the options, what do I need to do to get a
backtrace?
Also, the crash info states that the data is from
/usr/local/libexec/aisleriot, but no such file is present on my
system. gdb fails with:
[GDB will not be able to debug user-mode threads: /usr/lib/libthread_db.so: Undefined symbol "libc_r_db_ops"]
/usr/local/libexec/aisleriot: No such file or directory.
Killed
As it works on other systems I have updated to 2.16, I assume some old
reference is hanging around to byte me.
Any suggestions appreciated.
