guile version question

In an attempt ot port lilypond to freebsd, the build fails due to a line which 
is known to be compatible with 1.6.7 and 1.8.x. Should the lilypond port be 
made compatible with a different version of guile than is in ports, will 
there be a guile port version change soon, or should a patch to the single 
problem be looked into further?
