Firefox 2.0 doesn't open downloaded files

Thank you very much, rebuilt with edited Makefile, helper apps now work!
Java problem has not gone away, though. Firefox2 still gets killed on
websites running java applets.
I have turned off java as a workaround. Is there anything you can suggest as
a fix?
