Gnome2.12 and FreeBSD 6 100% CPU utilization for windows opening for the first time

Dear all,

I am running FreeBSD 6-RELEASE with Gnome 2.12.3 (latest port)

I am facing the following problem:

When I start different gnome applications, the first time they start, the CPU utilization goes to 100% for about 4-5 seconds (PIII 933MHz), then it drops and then they start normally. If I start them again, they start immediately without problems (no 100% cpu utilization).

Here is another thing I have noticed that might be of help to you: I start firefox and starts right away. However when I go to a site that needs username and password to be entered, the system goes 100% for 5 seconds and then the window to enter the username and password appears. It seems that it has something to do with some kind of windows when they load for the first time or something...

I have also noticed at the gnome task manager, that the 95% out of the 100% CPU utilization is consumed by some system process(es?) but I cannot find out what is going on.

Please help!

Best Regards,

Dimitris Rizopoulos.
