gnome-cd in gnome-2.10 not working right

Well, I do have the atapicam stuff enabled in the kernel as I do some 
cdburning.....and, gstreamer is installed (no man page on it).  I also have 
goobox, have the same behavior there.  <sigh>.  its not a biggie, cdcontrol 
works just fine.
